OCTOBER Newsletter
Scripture for your meditation in October
1 John – Read for the themes! Give the book of first John some of your attention this month. Often people think 1 John is hard to read, but it doesn’t need to be unapproachable. 1 John is cyclical, not linear. He’s meditating on several themes through the book: Love, Light, Darkness, Life Water…etc.
As you look at 1st John, you may find this chart helpful:
Home Visits
Home Visits have started, and are going well! I have enough people signed up to keep me busy for a while. When I’ve finished my list, I will continue to reach out so that I might meet with everyone.
Sunday School
A big shoutout and “Thank you” to everyone who is helping out with Sunday School this year. Things are off to a great start. God be praised!
Bible Hour
Bible hour has been enjoyable, thanks to all who attend, it’s a joy to teach! It is an ongoing prayer of mine that I might discern what we ought to go through next. As things are on your heart and mind, please feel encouraged to email me your comments/concerns/suggestions for how we might best use our time together.
Reformation Service
This year, our regional Reformation Service will be held at A Mighty Fortress in Red Deer. On October 27th, at 4:00 p.m. we will gather to celebrate God’s grace as he used the Lutheran Reformers to bring the truths of God’s word back to the Western Church. A potluck is also being planned for 5:30 that evening. Stay tuned for details, and let me know if you would like to participate in worship as a musician.
Advent By Candlelight
This year, St. Paul’s will be hosting an advent by candlelight, and the women of MVLC are welcome to attend. Look for an invite from Anna Reinemann to be distributed soon.
Upcoming Events
In October I will begin hosting an in-home Bible study. It will be held at 700 PM on Wednesday evenings. This will also be available on Zoom.
(I messed up the recording on our first one, moving forward Zoom should be available.)
Resources
This month I would like to highlight an online resource created by Rev. Bryan Wolfmueller (LCMS). His website, wolfmueller.co (yes it is “.co”) is a blog packed full of solid Lutheran theology. There you can find book recommendations, blogs, studies, and even some Christian news.
